ICWA/STARWRAP Recovery Tent at the 505 Triathalon

STARWRAP at the 505 Triathalon

What a beautiful day at Cochiti Lake Saturday. We met some new athletes who tried out the EX for some plantar fascitis and Achilles tendinitis issues.  We also met several athletes with low back & hip pain. We demonstrated how to apply starwrap using a foam roller for additional compression.  Laying laterally on the roller with the STAR Enforcer planted firmly into your QL. Absorb the pain, then begin to activate the lower back with side bends. Fun Times for you die hards.
We are teaching how much time under pressure is needed to get their tissue to an optimal state.  Turns out, it's much more than they thought. 20-30 minute blocks within 1 week on a specific tissue issue will produce noticeable results. Especially for Triathletes, we recommend a focus on recovery and regeneration that can match the time under tension your 3 sports produce in your body.  Give your body adequate positive stimulus to wage battle on your overuse and painful areas. Positive stimulus we define as stress in the form of direct pressure that will increase blood flow to a specific area. This stimulus will cause the body to adapt. Adaptation means the tissue responds to this increased blood flow by opening capillaries and veins.  As blood flows into the tissue, damaging toxic acids (hyarulonic and lactic) are removed. The fascia when stimulated can also changes states from a gel-like sticky, adhesion rife state, to a viscous, fluid state where muscles glide easily along each other. This is a state we want our tissue to find itself in.
Congratulations to STARWRAP's Athlete Lauren Thompson. 1st Place in Open Division.

We will see you triathletes at the 505, Saturday the 31st, Cochiti.

ICWA and STARWRAP will have our recovery tent all set up for all you triathletes out there attending the 505.  Come on by and say hello.   Feel free to resource our tent for recovery purposes. We will have foam roller and be featuring the STARWRAP system. Come by and meet the inventor/sports therapist Tait Yoder. He'll give you a free adhesion assessment and teach you how to treat yourself and restore your tissue to an optimal state.

Optimal Tissue Health for the Upper Leg Clinic on July 20th at ICWA.

Our next clinic is a focus on upper legs including quadriceps, hamstrings, and hip flexors.  We will begin with a self-massage instruction to help you target your trigger points and adhesions. Next we will apply the STARWRAP UL (we will provide them) to go further into the tension and release deeper muscle fibers and restrictions. Next we will go through some fascial unwinding which help you feel the connections between the upper leg and hips into the lower back and spine.  This sequence will naturally flow into the next clinic on August 24th.

This series has been well received and we are excited to offer them here at ICWA. We look forward to seeing you there.  Please call Tait with any questions (505) 554-2315

Optimal Tissue Health Clinic 1-Foot and Lower Leg proves to be a valuable resource for the community.

What an exciting event. Our attendees learned skills to keep their feet and lower legs healthy and happy. We had some amazing results from an inner thigh release with 10 minutes of self-massage and wearing STARWRAP EX just above the knee to a Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist who had her heels touch the ground during a downward dog.

STARWRAP Level I Certification a Great Success!

Thank you for the professionals who attended our June STARWRAP Trainer certification. We were happy to have some golf pro's, football and track and field coaches, and Certified Personal Trainers who all passed our class and are now practicing soft tissue active release with their athletes and clients.

Already we've received great feedback from the SW Level I trainers including Lily who has had excellent results using our system on her own soft tissue issues, and now has clients learning just how much positive stimulus is enough to bring about a systemic change in the state of the tissue.

As I told Lily, I personally don't think you can apply STARWRAP too much. Increases in the amount of time under pressure affects an increase in blood flow to a specified area. By flooding the site with blood and thus increasing circulation, changes to the viscosity of the fascia from a gel like to a more fluid viscous state will naturally occur. This is called the cascade of healing and is what will shift the entire muscle length from origin to insertion and bring about the actin and myosin filaments sliding fluidly as the muscle becomes soft and supple.

So congratulations to our new Certified STARWRAP Level I practitioners. Go out there and help your clients achieve optimal tissue health.
